Platform terms

Terms for templates, documents and the platform.

Last updated 2 November 2026. Plain English on purpose; the headings are part of the terms.

In short: the templates and filled-in documents are a starting point, not advice; you may use them for your own business and not resell them; the fixed-fee review is advice on the document you send; subscriptions cancel any time and run to the end of the paid period; and we are ARC Law Limited, trading as Atka Legal. The detail follows.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Atka Legal is the trading name of ARC Law Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 13671850, whose registered office is at 17 Green Lanes, London N16 9BS ("we", "us"). You can reach us at enquiries@atkalegal.co.uk.

These terms apply to the atkalegal.co.uk website and to the products sold or provided through it: Word templates and packs, documents filled in on the platform, the free prompt pack, the fixed-fee document review and the platform plan (together, the "Platform"). They do not cover advice we give you under a separate engagement letter; that engagement letter governs that work.

By creating an account, buying a template or using the Platform you agree to these terms. If you are using the Platform for a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

2. Templates and filled-in documents are not legal advice

The templates, packs, filled-in documents, drafting notes, prompts and articles are published as general information and a starting point only. They are written for the law of England and Wales, are not tailored to your circumstances, and may not reflect changes in the law after the date shown on them.

Using them does not make you our client and does not create a solicitor and client relationship. We do not review what you do with a template unless you buy a fixed-fee review (section 6). Where a drafting note says to take advice, or the arrangement is complex or high value, take independent advice before you rely on the document.

3. Accounts

Anyone may create a free account to use the fill-in documents. You must give accurate details and keep your password private; you are responsible for what is done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used for anything unlawful, or has been inactive for more than two years. You may close your account at any time from your profile or by emailing us. Closing an account does not refund a current subscription period.

4. Templates, packs and filled-in documents

When you buy a template or pack, or generate a filled-in document, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for the business you are acting for. You may adapt it, complete it and share it with the people involved in the transaction it is used for.

You may not: resell, sub-license, publish or distribute the templates or documents; use them to build a competing product or service; or use them, the drafting notes or the prompts to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine learning model. The templates remain our copyright.

Prices shown are in pounds sterling. We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. Stripe processes card payments and sends a receipt that you can use as an invoice; we do not see or store your card details.

A template download link stays valid, so you can download the file again later. Keep the link private: anyone with it can download the file.

5. The free allowance and the platform plan

Free accounts may generate up to three filled-in documents a calendar month from the documents we mark as free (at present the mutual and one-way NDAs). Other documents on the platform need a platform plan.

The platform plan is a subscription at the price shown when you subscribe (currently £29 a month or £249 a year). It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the subscription page; access continues to the end of the period you have paid for, and we do not refund part periods. We may change the price with at least thirty days' notice before your next renewal.

We may add, change or withdraw documents and features on the platform. If we withdraw something you have paid for before the end of your period, we will refund the unused part or offer an equivalent.

6. Fixed-fee document review

The fixed-fee review is a legal service: a lawyer at Atka Legal reads the document you upload and sends written comments. The fee depends on the length of the document and is shown before you pay. We aim to return comments within three working days of receiving a readable document; if the document is longer than the tier you paid for, or needs more than a review of its drafting, we will tell you before doing any further work and agree the fee.

The review is limited to the document you send and the information you give us with it. It is advice on that document under the law of England and Wales and is not a review of the underlying deal, of tax, or of foreign law. It is provided to you alone and may not be relied on by anyone else.

Our liability for the review is limited to the fee paid for it, except where the law does not allow that limit (section 9). Where we give advice as a law firm, the relevant professional rules and insurance also apply to that work.

7. Cancelling and refunds

Templates, packs and filled-in documents are digital content. If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel within fourteen days of purchase, unless you asked us to supply the content immediately and acknowledged that you would lose that right. When you click to pay, you do ask for immediate supply and the download starts at once, so the fourteen-day right does not apply once the download has begun. If a file is faulty or is not what the page describes, tell us and we will put it right or refund you.

For the fixed-fee review, you may cancel and receive a full refund at any time before we start reading the document. Once we have started, we may deduct a reasonable amount for the work done.

Nothing in this section reduces your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Electronic signatures

The platform lets you send a filled-in document to another person for electronic signature. Electronic signatures are generally valid under the law of England and Wales for simple contracts. Some documents, such as deeds, have extra formalities, and the drafting notes say where that applies. You are responsible for checking that the people signing have authority to do so.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.

Subject to that: we are not liable for any loss arising from the use of a template, filled-in document, prompt or article, which are general information and not advice; our total liability for the platform plan in any twelve months is limited to the fees you paid for it in that period; and our liability for a fixed-fee review is limited as set out in section 6. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect loss.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our negligence, and this section does not affect your statutory rights.

10. Your data

We process personal data as described in our privacy policy. Documents you upload for review and documents you generate on the platform are stored securely and used only to provide the service to you. We do not use your documents or data to train AI models.

11. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version; material changes to a subscription take effect at your next renewal and we will tell you about them.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK may bring proceedings in their own courts.
